After reading the file: It should contain similes and metaphors; it should create vivid and original imagery: both mental pictures and emotional feelings. The most effective description is developed through careful choices of vocabulary - precise vocabulary; We should always try to avoid overuse of describing words; instead, we should work hard to choose a more precise word.Also, we should include carefully chosen precise verbs and nouns! We must create mental pictures by using original, vivid similes and metaphors to describe sights, sounds, feelings. symbolism, metaphor and irony. It would help to 'switch places' and for a momentreflect on becoming your own reader. When you read you like to be made to feel!

3.1. 1. What in your opinion is Descriptive Writing?
3.1.1. - Before reading document: It is when a passage is written with such clarity that the reader is able to picture the whole scene described in his/her mind./ Basically, it involves all five senses within the writing itself, in order to involve the reader more into a real life scenario. - After reading document: It is when a passage is written such that the reader can imagine seeing, feeling, hearing, tasting and smelling whatever the writer is describing. It is also as if the writer is a human camera. Descriptive writing seems to be like a picture made of words, it does not tell you how food is delicious, instead it shows you how appetizing was the food.

3.2.1. - Before reading document: It entails a wide range and good use of vocabulary and adjectives. - After reading document: It entails precise vocabulary, not just adjectives and adverbs./ It entails very detailed and imagined scenarios which is linked to the five scenes from time to time, using very vivid descriptions and phrases, adding colour to the writing.

4.1.1. 1. Descriptive writing is just all about describing a particular scene vividly and the scene would be described in a detailed manner.

Descriptive writing coaxes the reader to not only enter but also become a part of the world the writer is trying to create. In other words, descriptive writing helps to connect the reader’s mind to the story he/she is reading.

Descriptive writing also focuses more on specific terms than abstract terms (such as bright vs. beautiful). 5.3.1. Unlike expositions and formal letters where we have to write along a borderline. In descriptive writing, though we are only stuck to one scene we can use a wide range of metaphors, similies and make the overall essay be fun with the choice of words we have. I think in other text types, we have to focus more on grammar compared to the descriptions we add and vocabulary but in descriptive writing, we have to give equal importance to both.

Initial thought : We think descriptive writing is writing a paragraph/pasage using descriptive words to describe the surroundings/people or the event happening. After reading through pdf file : Descriptive writing is characterized by sensory details, which appeal to the physical senses, and details that appeal to a reader’s emotional, physical, or intellectual sensibilities. Determining the purpose, considering the audience, creating a dominant impression, using descriptive language, and organizing the description are the rhetorical choices to be considered when using a description.

After reading the pdf file :Description uses tools such as denotative language, connotative language, figurative language, metaphor, and simile to arrive at a dominant impression. 9.1. 1. What in your opinion is Descriptive Writing? Before reading the file: I think that descriptive writing means writing a passage with great details. After reading the file: It means to describe the events, people, and things in the story in order to show the reader and let the reader imagine what is happening in the story and hence understand the story more. Also, it means to convince the reader that something/someone/someplace is as such and to let the reader feel like he/she is having a real-life experience on the issue.
9.2. 3. How is it different from other text types (e.g. expositions, formal letters) you have learnt? Before reading the file: It is less general and focuses more on an event, person, place, or item. After reading the file: In writing to describe, your aim is not to tell a story, or even to 'be there' yourself within the writing; rather, it is to focus your 'camera' on details - close up and ultra-close up at times – to help your reader feel as if he or she were actually there, experiencing the thing being described.

How to Mind Map
All mind maps begin with a main concept or idea that the rest of the map revolves around, so choosing that idea or topic is the first step. Begin by creating an image or writing a word that represents that first main idea.
